Higher blood–brain barrier leakage in schizophrenia-spectrum disorders: A comparative dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging study with healthy controls

This study investigates blood–brain barrier (BBB) leakage in individuals with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders (SZS) compared to healthy controls using dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI). The findings reveal significantly higher BBB leakage in several brain regions in the SZS group, suggesting a potential role of BBB dysfunction in the pathophysiology of these disorders.
